Southport attacker's sibling was afraid he would commit murder, hearing told
The older brother of the Southport attacker said his parents "could not manage" of their offspring and he was concerned his brother would murder a member of their household, a hearing has been told.
The individual, then 17, fatally attacked three children at a celebrity-themed lesson on July 29, 2024.
The official investigation, sitting at a civic building, learned the attacker's brother Dion Rudakubana warned a acquaintance there was a possibility of his relative "committing an act that could kill."
The inquiry was informed the brother told his associate over the online platform: "Arguments are terrifying because of the threat of loss of life."
Dion testified his relative was similar to the psychopathic killer in the picture the Coen brothers film.
Increasing Conflict
The inquiry was told he was found to have a neuromuscular disorder at the twelve years old which caused him needing mobility assistance and his family offering greater support.
Questioned by Richard Boyle, attorney, if that changed his relationship he stated: "There was tension that came about."
The brother acknowledged his relative showed bitterness toward this shift.
He testified the hearing that after the relatives relocated from the Welsh capital to Southport his sibling's temperament declined and he would have "physical explosions."
The inquiry heard the brother became "more cautious" of his relative, who would hit him regularly.
He stated: "I was forced to be wary if I attempted to talk to him because every argument could turn into an argument."
'Serious fears'
Dion said his relative became increasingly physical after he was dismissed from the educational institution in the local area, in October 2019.
The sibling went to college in the following period and the siblings had diminishing contact "due to unfamiliarity with having me around."
The hearing was informed of a message he wrote to a contact on the platform in which he stated his relative was annoyed by him talking during nighttime because of the limited soundproofing in their house.
He further revealed to his contact there was a danger of "him taking action that could kill."
He said: "Confrontations are frightening because of the threat of a fatality."
The lawyer asked: "You held real worries that your sibling would fatally harm a person of your household?"
Dion replied: "Should situations worsen to that extent."
Mr Boyle questioned how his family reacted to the relative's physical conduct.
"It didn't make sense to attempt to discipline him," he stated. "Moreover, there was a heavy risk in doing so.
"We discussed there was a widespread threat to life in everyday talk, if you attempt to challenge him... it wouldn't be responded to well."
When the lawyer inquired if his family had been unable to handle of his sibling, he concurred.
When asked about his relative reminding him of a persona from the movie the Coen brothers film, he said: "I've been told that figure's intended as a dangerous individual and that's why I employed that term there."
The brother said the last interaction he had with his sibling was in the summer of 2023.
He confirmed that their mother and father told the perpetrator to take leave to him as he was departing to visit his friends and his brother hurled an object at him but the exit was secured before it made contact.
