President Signs Bill to Disclose Further Epstein Files Following Months of Resistance

The US leader declared on late Wednesday that he had signed the legislation overwhelmingly approved by US legislators that directs the Department of Justice to make public more records regarding the convicted sex offender, the late pedophile.

This decision comes after weeks of opposition from the leader and his supporters in the legislature that split his core constituency and created rifts with various established backers.

Trump had opposed releasing the related records, describing the matter a "hoax" and criticizing those who attempted to publish the records accessible, notwithstanding promising their release on the political campaign.

However he reversed course in the past few days after it became apparent the legislative chamber would pass the legislation. The president said: "We have nothing to hide".

It's not clear what the department will release in following the legislation – the legislation outlines a range of possible documents that need to be disclosed, but includes exemptions for certain documents.

Donald Trump Signs Measure to Require Disclosure of Further the financier Records

The bill mandates the attorney general to make public related records accessible to the public "available for online access", covering all investigations into Epstein, his associate his accomplice, flight logs and movement logs, people mentioned or identified in relation to his crimes, organizations that were linked to his human trafficking or money operations, exemption arrangements and further court deals, internal communications about prosecution choices, documentation of his detention and death, and details about any file deletions.

The agency will have one month to submit the documents. The measure provides for certain exemptions, such as removals of personal details of victims or private records, any descriptions of minor exploitation, disclosures that would endanger current examinations or legal cases and depictions of demise or exploitation.
