Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The latest action-packed instalment that players experienced was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for delighting in violence and insanity with similar excitement, all while presenting engaging, politically driven narratives. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose creations have embodied all of those things.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game property, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' structure by featuring a fresh backdrop and ensemble in each season.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team continues to lift me up with their ongoing trust and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style series. Each game is a take of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the core of humanity through this intricate and turbulent viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, ambitious approach to the screen.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
