Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors report that a former physician now faces charges for committing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
